There are Vtiger addon’s already that will help you color code whole rows based on logic. IMHO that is a little overwhelming on the eyes. I like the Vtiger 7 approach (as viewed currently in Vtiger On Demand), of color coding the field only. It’s easy to configure and it shows on all views of the record.
